When making your New Year's Eve plans, you'll have to take into account the closures and schedule changes that come with the end of 2011.

Banks, post offices and government services will be closed Monday, Jan. 2 as the holiday carries over from the weekend. This includes Ottawa's provincial court on Elgin Street.

OC Transpo is running a regular Saturday schedule on New Year's Eve, with free service after 11 p.m.

There'll be a regular Sunday schedule on Jan. 1, a Saturday schedule on Monday then reduced service until the new winter schedule comes into effect Jan. 8.

The Rideau Centre, St. Laurent centre, Place D'Orleans and Bayshore Shopping Centre are all open from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on New Year's Eve, then closed New Year's Day.

Beer Store and LCBO locations will open at the regular time on Saturday, but both will close at 6 p.m. before re-opening Monday.

The city says to check with recreation facilities about skating, swimming and fitness classes. Branches of the Ottawa Public Library will all be closed by 3 p.m. Saturday.

Pickup of curbside garbage, recycling and compost is not affected and will go on a normal schedule.
