While heavy snow may have stopped some OC Transpo buses in their tracks, the weather isn't expected to have an impact on the third of four open houses planned to discuss proposals to revamp Ottawa's public transit system.

Wednesday's meeting is scheduled for 6-8:30 p.m. at Kanata's Earl of March High School.

Those who attend the meetings will be able to take a look at the proposals and ask questions about the four options.

All of the new plans include building a downtown tunnel and come with multi-billion dollar price tags.

The proposals also include expanded bus transitways to the east, west and southern corners of the city.

The options:

Coun. Diane Holmes told CTV News that Tuesday's open house at City Hall attracted hundreds of people.

Holmes says the meeting produced good ideas and constructive comments which included the need for better links to Gatineau's public transit system and improved service to health facilities on Smythe Road.

Ottawa transit director Alain Mercier told CTV News public feedback on the new plans has been generally positive.

He says combining plans three and four might emerge as the public's preferred choice: an "option 3.5."

Residents can have their say on the transit options - or suggest others - by calling 311 or visiting the City of Ottawa's website by March 31.

The fourth and final open house for south end residents begins at 6 p.m. Thursday night at John McRae High School in Barrhaven.

City planners say they'll announce the preferred transit option April 16. Councillors will decide how to move forward in May.
