Fire crews were busy Saturday morning battling two different blazes.

The first fire broke out at a home at 546 Kenwood Avenue in Westboro just after 4:30 am.

When crews arrived the home was fully engulfed in flames. One firefighter was treated for smoke inhalation and returned to duty.

A neighbour told officials that the two adults and one child who lived at the address are out of town for the weekend.

Damage is estimated at  $500,000.

 

Just after 6am, fire crews were called to a kitchen fire at an apartment at 1833 Riverside Drive.

The resident of the 4th floor, made it out safely.

Officials say one firefighter suffered a non-serious injury but was transported to hospital as a precaution.

Damage is estimated at $70,000 dollars.
