Two drivers have been injured following a two-vehicle collision that happened on Highway 7 in Perth Thursday afternoon, according to the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP).

Police say they received a call shortly before 3:30 p.m. reporting the incident. When crews arrived at the scene, they found one driver was trapped in their vehicle. They were extricated by firefighters and transported to hospital in non-life-threatening condition by paramedics.

The second driver was also transported to hospital non-life-threatening condition, police add.

The investigation is ongoing, and police are asking people to avoid the intersection of Highway 7 and Wilson Street in Perth due to the collision.

“Highway 7 eastbound is closed and westbound may be closed shortly. Some local traffic is being rerouted through the Mews Mall parking lot,” the OPP said in a post on X. “Full detour for Highway 7 eastbound traffic is up Highway 511 to Drummond Concession 7 which leads back to Highway 7.”
