Police are investigating two separate collisions involving cyclists in Ottawa and Gatineau.

An Ottawa cyclist is recovering from serious injuries in hospital after he was struck by a vehicle as he travelled west on Ogilvie Road, west of Blair Road, at about 11 p.m. Tuesday.

The 22-year-old victim was knocked unconscious and suffered a serious head injury, according to paramedics. He was transported to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The collision closed westbound lanes of Ogilvie Road between Blair Road and City Park Drive for several hours.

Meanwhile, a cyclist in Gatineau is also recovering from injuries after he was struck by a pickup truck making a right-hand turn at the corner of Highway 50 and Rue Saint-Louis.

Gatineau police said the male victim, who's in his 20s, was struck just before 11 a.m. on Wednesday.

He was unconscious when emergency crews arrived at the scene, but regained consciousness as he was being transported to hospital.

The pair of collisions come days after five cyclists were seriously injured when they were struck by a minivan in a hit-and-run on March Road in Kanata. One of the cyclists remains in critical condition in hospital.
