Ottawa Police are investigating a stabbing that occurred early Sunday morning in the city’s south end where three people were injured, one of them critically.
Police say they were called to an apartment building at 2176 Blossom Drive in the Alta Vista area at 3:20 a.m. Sunday.
The Ottawa Paramedic Service says a 28-year-old man had several penetrating knife wounds and was in critical condition upon arrival at hospital.
A 26 year-old man also had knife wounds and was reported to be in serious but stable condition. A 20-year-old woman was found with lacerations. She was in stable condition when taken to hospital.
Police say they are looking for four male suspects, either black or Middle Eastern, who they believe were after something specific in this unit.
“We don’t want to say what was taken, we’re going to not relinquish some information given the integrity of the investigation, but I’ve classified this as a home invasion or robbery right now with victims that were targeted,” said Ottawa Police Insp. Mark Patterson.
Tenants in the apartment building say they are shocked by the news.
“It freaks me out big time and the worst part is I slept through it all and I’m a very light sleeper so it’s scary when it’s that close to home, you know,” said Kim Biggs, who lives across the hall.
“I’ve lived here for five years and nothing like this has ever happened, like you get your minor drunken, you know, but other than that, nothing to this extent, no,” said Robert Knowles, another tenant.
