Ottawa police closed off several downtown streets Tuesday afternoon after reports of a suspicious package near Parliament Hill.

The Parliamentary Protective Service (PPS) says it responded to reports of the threat in the Wellington Building at 180 Wellington Street, which houses the offices for some members of Parliament.

After an analysis, the package was deemed not suspicious, PPS said.

The Ottawa Police Service said in a post on X that it assisted PPS in closing roads in the area.

Police say there is no danger to the public and officers are standing down.
