OTTAWA - A two-day Ottawa Police Service operation targeting street level drug dealing in Vanier was completed last night resulting in 11 arrests. (10 men; 1 woman)
Project Ripper, an operation led by Central District officers who serve the Vanier area, was in response to community complaints about open drug dealing, other crime and disorder issues.
"Our front line members did a great job in responding to the issues raised by residents as part of our ongoing work in the area," said Insp. Chris Rhéaume. "We take the concerns of residents seriously and we want to ensure they can enjoy their neighbourhoods."
The project was launched in cooperation with the community and the Ottawa Carleton Housing Corporation, after residents alerted police to drug activity in July.
