The popular St. Albert cheese products are for sale again in a new store right across the street from the historic factory which was destroyed by fire last month.

Customers lined up Friday to buy everything from the squeaky famous cheese curds to ice cream.

The temporary store is only selling mild cheese products for now.

The reopening has provided a boost to the community.

"It's important for the local economy. It means jobs. It also shows St. Albert is back and we're going to rebuild and be even better', said Eric Lafontaine", manager of St. Albert cheese.

Lafontaine says plans are moving quickly to rebuild the factory.

There's hope a new cheese plant can be rebuilt by the end of this year or early 2014.
