A new Cheese factory in St. Albert,  just east of Ottawa, should be ready for production within 8 to 12 months.

That was the announcement today by Rejean Ouimet, the mangaer of the co-operative which owns the cheese factory.

There's also a plan to resume a small amount of cheese production at a facility in St. Jerome, Quebec.

A fire Sunday destroyed the factory throwing 120 people out of work.

St. Albert employee Bob Levesque who pulled the alarm when the fire began says his co-workers are now in " la la land' over losing their jobs.

The St. Albert factory produced poutine topping cheese curds.

The operator of Glen's French Fries Chip Truck on Richmond Road says he'll run out of St. Albert's Cheese curds within the week.
