Unionized workers at Valu-Mart in Shawville, Que. are still on strike after failing to reach an agreement with store management.

Employees claim the working conditions at their store are much lower than they are across the province.

Their union has reduced some of its demands and offered a more flexible calendar for the implementation of benefits but an agreement with management still hasn't been reached.

Union president Karen Cartman released a statement saying that employees would stay on the picket line as long as it takes to have their demands met.

"We are prepared to invest all the time and effort necessary to achieve our goal," Cartman said. "We want an agreement that reflects our collective demands and we expect to get what other stores our size received."

No new meetings between the union and management have been scheduled. The workers have been on strike since Dec. 3.
