Rick Campbell is returning to the Ottawa Redblacks sidelines, this time as the club's special teams coordinator.

The Redblacks announced that Campbell has been named special teams coordinator for the 2025 season, joining head coach Bob Dyce's staff.

"It feels like coming home," Campbell said in a statement. "Ottawa is a special place, and I'm looking forward to getting to work and competing for the Grey Cup in 2025."

Campbell was the first head coach in Redblacks history in 2014, leading the expansion club to a 12-6 record and a Grey Cup appearance in their second season. In 2016, Campbell led the Redblacks to the Grey Cup championship with Henry Burris as quarterback.

Campbell left the Redblacks in 2019 and spent the past four seasons as head coach and co-general manager of the BC Lions.

“Throughout our time working together, and coaching against each other, Rick has demonstrated what it means to be a leader of men," Redblacks Head Coach Bob Dyce said. "His experience coaching all phases of the game will be a tremendous asset to our football club, and we’re extremely pleased to welcome him back to Ottawa as our Special Teams Coordinator.”
