More than 1400 people gathered wearing shorts and every shade of green.
It is their tribute to Dave Woodard, the 46-year-old OC Transpo driver killed in the bus-train crash two weeks ago.
“I think he would have been blown away seeing the people who have come out to honour him,” says fellow bus operator Bryan Chhangur.
At a funeral service at Metropolitan Bible Church, Woodard was first remembered as a loving husband and father of three.
“He loved his family and it showed,” says family friend Cynthia Charbonneau.
During the service, Steve Woodard said he knows his brother’s kindness extends after death.
“We know he left this earth too early but the big guy upstairs must have needed a driver to shuttle people around. And he only takes the best,” he said.
Fellow drivers say they look up to Woodard’s positive attitude and care for everyone around them.
“Guys will really learn from the example and do the job in the same way that he did it,” says Chhangur.
