Three dogs destined for a slaughter house in South Korea have been given a second chance at life in Ottawa.
Puppies Sally and Sophie and an adult female, Cinta, were rescued from a dog meat farm in South Korea by the Humane Society International.
Andrew Plumbly was part of the rescue operation that brought 50 dogs to the United States and Canada and helped convince the dog meat farm to cease operation.
"“When we entered the facility, the suffering of these dogs and puppies was clear and overwhelming. They were huddled miserably in wire cages with no bedding or protection from the extreme cold temperature," he said.
The three dogs were brought to Montreal before finding temporary homes with Freedom Dog Rescue in Ottawa.
The Humane Society International said another 200 dogs will be arriving in North America in April.
More to come.
