More than a dozen police officers were on hand to control a noisy demonstration outside the Libyan Embassy in downtown Ottawa Friday afternoon.

Police managed to separate a crowd of about 75 to 100 anti- Moammar Gadhafi supporters from about 15 pro-Gadhafi supporters.

A police officer was apparently injured, according to reports.

The protest temporarily closed Metcalfe Street at Albert at about 2:30 p.m. The street has since re-opened, as the protest was wrapping up around 4 p.m.

Gadhafi, the controversial Libyan leader, has been the target of NATO airstrikes in his country after his violent crackdown on protesters in February.
