An Orleans daycare says it is satisfied its staff did nothing wrong after five young children ran away from the play yard on Tuesday.  Francine Beaudoin, the director of La Coccinelle Daycare at Reine-des-Bois school says at no time were the children out of sight of a daycare provider.  Beaudoin says several children were playing on a soccer field near the school Tuesday afternoon when five young kids ran down an embankment and onto a pathway.  Beaudoin says the daycare provider called to the children to stop, then ran after them and managed to grab two of the kids.  With two of them in her arms, she pursued the other 3 who ended up at one of the children’s grandmother’s house who offered to drive them back to the daycare.

Julie Proulx’s son Jaden was one of those children who took off.  The 3 ½ year old told CTV News on Wednesday that he went into the forest with some friends.  Proulx was furious to learn about the incident and so shaken, she decided to start the search for another daycare.

"This is a parent’s worst nightmare," Proulx said, outside the daycare Wednesday afternoon, "If my husband had got there 5 or 10 minutes earlier, he would have been greeted by someone saying sorry, we don’t know where your son is.  That’s unacceptable."

"Nous ne minimisons d’aucune façon la responsabilité du personnel ou du service de garde face à ces événements et nous prenons très au sérieux cet incident." Francine Beaudoin explained in a release sent out to the media. She says that the daycare does not minimize the responsibility of its staff regarding these events and that it takes this situation very seriously.
