TORONTO - Ontario Power Generation says its new chief executive has an annual salary of $800,000 and could earn a $800,000 bonus if he meets "target performance."

The giant power utility says its president and CEO Tom Mitchell asked that his salary and expenses be disclosed today to show his commitment to accountability.

Mitchell accepted the post of president and CEO in July, in addition to his duties as OPG's chief nuclear officer.

His expenses between Jan. 1 and Sept. 30 amounted to $27,802, mostly comprising flight and hotel expenses to attend conferences and meetings.

Mitchell's disclosure comes as the governing Liberals grapple with spending scandals at Ontario agencies.

A scathing auditor's report into eHealth Ontario, an agency set up to bring health records online, said millions of dollars went out the door in untendered contracts.
