Your household routine of putting out the garbage is about to change.
CTV has learned that tens of thousands of households will get different garbage collection days. It's all because of a new garbage schedule set to start at the end of October.
A total of 158,000 households will be getting a letter in October indicating a change in pick-up day.
That's a result of changes in collection contracts with household garbage being collected every two weeks, instead of weekly.
The move is expected to save the city millions, remove trucks from the road, and extend the life of the Trail Road landfill.
There will also be a change in green bin pick up. They will be collected every week.
Recyclables will continue to be picked up on alternating weeks.
