A man is dead after he suffered a heart attack while driving on Highway 174 east of Cumberland, crashing his vehicle and backing up traffic for hours.
The highway reopened between Old Montreal Road and Cameron Street at about 12:45 p.m. Wednesday.
Paramedics say a 57-year-old man suffered a fatal heart attack while he was driving his SUV on the highway at Kinsella Drive just after 7 a.m.
The man apparently managed to veer his vehicle slowly to the side of the road before the SUV landed in the ditch.
Paramedics got to the scene within seven minutes and tried to revive the man. However, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
