A grocery store clerk fought off an armed robber on Carling Avenue Sunday morning.
The lone male suspect entered Food Frenz at 2910 Carling Ave. at 4:55 a.m., demanding money and cigarettes. A short scuffle ensued, and the man left empty-handed.
The clerk was punched several times but did not require medical attention.
The suspect was described as a black male between 20 and 30 years old. He was wearing a white zippered jacket with a blue stripe on the sleeve, and blue jeans. He was armed with a small knife and was last seen running south on Grenon Avenue.
