Former Ottawa-Rideau MPP Yvonne O'Neill has lost a battle with cancer. O'Neill was a teacher and Catholic school board trustee before entering provincial politics with the David Peterson Liberals in 1987.
She remained an MPP until losing her seat to Garry Guzzo by a slim margin in 1995.
O'Neill was 74.
