Crews will start ripping up Bank Street in Ottawa's Glebe neighbourhood later this month to begin work on replacing sewer and water pipes in the community.

Construction will begin on May 24 and traffic will be detoured on parallel streets.

OC Transpo buses that run southbound on that section of Bank Street will be diverted along Isabella, O'Connor and Fifth Avenue before reconnecting with Bank Street.

Northbound buses will move to Holmwood, O'Connor, Strathcona and Metcalfe.

The $22-million project is needed to replace 100-year-old sewer and water pipes in the area. The project will also make improvements to the streetscape in the Glebe.
