An Ontario coroner has announced an inquest to look into the death of 17-year old Rowan Stringer who died after suffering a head injury during a high school rugby game.

Stringer was the team captain of the John McCrae High School rugby team in May 2013 when her head struck the playing field.

The time and location of the inquest are to be announced later.

Dr. Louise McNaughton-Filion, the supervising coroner in Ottawa, said in a news release,  the inquest will "examine the circumstances surrounding Miss Stringer's death. The jury may make recommendations aimed at preventing similar deaths".
