The City of Ottawa has let go its fourth director of communications since the city amalgamated in 2001.
Denis Abbott, who ran the city's communications and client services department, was let go effective immediately, according to a city memo sent on Thursday.
There was no explanation for Abbott's sudden departure.
The department will now be split into two. Those working in the communications section will now report to different people than those working in client services.
