As ride sharing services like Uber threaten to drive Taxis out of business, municipalities are fighting back.

In Ottawa, the police will now join forces with bylaw to charge Uber drivers under the Highway Traffic Act.

So far, 31 Uber drivers in Ottawa have pleaded guilty to 62 charges, with fines totaling just over $18,000.

Uber has launched a campaign asking its users to email Ottawa Mayor Jim Watson, to tell him why they support the service.

Today, the taxi industry launched the Canadian Taxi Association. It says it wants to be a unified voice in the fight against ride sharing services like Uber.
