OTTAWA -- Alta Vista and Gloucester-Southgate continue to be the two wards hardest hit by COVID-19 in Ottawa.
The Ottawa Public Health "Snapshot of COVID-19 across Ottawa Wards Report" shows Alta Vista, Gloucester-Southgate and Beacon Hill-Cyrville have the highest rates of COVID-19 infections in Ottawa.
There have been 2,746 laboratory-confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Ottawa since mid-March.
Ottawa Public Health says, "COVID-19 is present in every single community within Ottawa."
"This map cannot be used to identify COVID-19 hot spots in Ottawa. Areas with lower or higher rates are not more or less safe from COVID-19."
As of Aug. 17, Alta Vista ward has 363 cases of COVID-19 per 100,000 people, up from 330 cases per 100,000 people on Aug. 3.
Gloucester-Southgate has 327 cases of COVID-19 per 100,000 people, up from 284 cases per 100,000 people two weeks ago. Beacon Hill-Cyrville has 314 cases per 100,000 people, up from 240 cases per 100,000 residents on Aug. 3
Bay ward has 252 cases per 100,000 people, while River ward has 244 cases per 100,000 people, and Rideau-Rockcliffe has 219 cases per 100,000 people.
West-Carleton March has the lowest rate of COVID-19 infection, at 63 cases per 100,000 people. There was no change in the infection rate from two weeks ago.
Ottawa Public Health says the data is based on the place of residence of Ottawans with confirmed COVID-19 and does not necessarily reflect where the disease was contracted.
