A powerful winter storm that dumped signifficant snow in Ontario and Quebec, has just begun to taper off.

The storm has left anywhere from 10 to 50 centimetres on the ground in a wide area from Southern Ontario to Quebec.

Ontario Provincial Police report dozens of crashes today..  No serious injuries are reported.  In Ottawa, Police report nore than 50 car crashes since midnight.  Police suggest drivers stay off the road unless travel is essential. 

Several articulated buses tirelessly spun wheels after getting stuck due to the slick, icy conditions. OC Transpo officials say there are route delays upwards of 10 minutes.  Earlier today, some buses had to be detoured around trouble spots where the roads were particularly slick.

There are no road closures to report.

Snow is expected to taper off this afternoon.
