There's a mystery unfolding under Queen Street and it's all about Ottawa's light rail transit.

The new sound and light show Kontinuum will soon transport residents and tourists into a futuristic world centered around Lyon Station.

"As we were excavating the tunnel for the LRT we hit a glitch, a fault that freed up an electromagnetic field that will allow for time travel," said Guy Laflamme, the Executive Director of Ottawa 2017. "Then you will see a portal, a vortex and at one point that portal will open and you will be able to go through that portal."

The state-of-the-art sound and light show is a world premiere, produced by the same company that put on Madonna's viral Superbowl performance.

"You are not going to see what Ottawa will look like in the future," Laflamme said. "You will be in a science fiction movie. All we wanted to achieve was to move people, to elevate their soul."

The 35 to 45 minute tour starts at Sussex off Bank Street and takes people on a walking tour of about 500 meters of the tunnel and platform that will soon be known as Lyon Station. This is the first time members of the general public will be allowed inside an LRT station.

Kontinuum launches on Sunday, July 16th and runs daily from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. until September 14th.
