Ottawa’s new Double-A baseball team has a new name.

Ottawa’s return to the Can-Am league will be with the Ottawa Champions.  Ottawa Mayor Jim Watson joined league commissioner Miles Wolff to make the announcement.

The Capital has had a troubled past when it comes to the minor leagues.  The Ottawa Lynx, The Rapidz and Fat Cats all struck out.

Wolff is optimistic this time around.  The city has pledged $1.2 million in renovations to the ballpark.  The Can-Am league has signed a 10-year lease.

The Ottawa Champions are now taking suggestions for a team logo.

The team will play ball in the spring of 2015.
