Two seniors are recovering in hospital after their van crashed into a west end home Sunday morning.

Paramedics say the vehicle was flipped on its side beside a home at 321 Steeple Chase Dr. near Woodbridge Cres. in Kanata.

Emergency crews were called to the scene around 9:30 a.m.

They say the vehicle hit the house and rolled into a large pine tree.

When they arrived, a man and a woman, both 81, were trapped inside the van.

Fire officials say they had to pull the couple out through the windshield.

Paramedics treated an 81-year-old woman for soft tissue trauma and multiple fractures to her left leg. She was in serious but stable condition upon arrival at the hospital.

An 81-year-old man was treated for minor neck, head, chest, and back injuries.  He is in stable condition.
