Street signs singling out the Lebanese community has sparked controvesy from some residents of Riverside Park who object to them going up in the community.
The two signs, which read 'Cedars of Lebanon' and have a cedar tree next to the words, are already up at two intersections in Ottawa - Riverside Drive and Heron Road, and Riverside and Ridgewood Avenue.
About 80 residents objected to the signs at a meeting at Riverside United Church Wednesday night, even though city council approved the pointers last summer.
The signs are similar in character to those installed around Little Italy, which pay tribute to the people of Italian heritage who live there.
