A sigh of relief was heard in the courtroom as the leader of a teen pimping ring in Ottawa was sentenced as an adult.
Justice Diane Lahaie said the actions of the now 18-year-old were "despicable" before handing out a six-and-a-half year sentence.
The girl who was only 15 years old at the time of her arrest was found guilty of human trafficking. She was also found guilty of making and possessing child pornography.
Lahaie said the convicted teen will get credit for time already served, which leaves just more than three years on her sentence. She added that rehabilitation programs will be available to the teen in prison.
