It is not something you expect to happen to a 20 year old hockey player.
Gatineau Olympiques forward Yannick Dube called team officials Sunday morning complaining about tightness in his chest. Dube had been out of the Olympiques lineup with a rib injury. This pain, his new pain was on the other side.
He was told to see a doctor immediately. Soon Dube was in a Gatineau hospital being treated for a pulmonary embolism. Head coach Benoit Groulx says the news shocked everyone in the organization. He says Dube is doing well in hospital.
Dube came to Gatineau in a trade over the summer with Victoriaville. He has seven goals and four assists in 23 games this season. The Olympiques are home Wednesday in a 7:30 start against Baie Comeau. Before the game, the team will honour former head coach Claude Julien, who is now head coach of the Boston Bruins.
