For the first-time ever The Ontario Lottery Group says this week’s Lotto-Max jackpot has hit a record-high $60 million.

Lotto players could also win one of 25 Maxmillions prizes worth $1 million each.

The $60 million jackpot follows six weeks in which the main Lotto-Max prize went unclaimed. During that period, the jackpot went from $12 million on Aug. 14 to $55 million last Friday.

The odds of winning tonight’s jackpot are one in 28 million. Still, there has been a rush to the kiosks all day.

"If you're not in it you can't win it and there's always that lucky chance so you've got to be optimistic," said Frank Collins, who purchased a ticket.

Players can purchase tickets at authorized OLG retailers until 10:30 p.m. Friday, September 25, 2015.
