The RCMP hosted a closed-door meeting Thursday night, inviting Ottawa police and members of the Muslim and multicultural community, amid fears there may be retaliation after Wednesday's terrorism bust.

"It's important to understand that we can't do this alone," said RCMP Sgt. Marc Menard.

There is tension and fear there may be retaliation after Wednesday's terror bust.

Three men are in custody -- two arrested in Ottawa, another in London, Ont.

So far, we know explosives were found. The suspected targets will be revealed in court.

Worries about being targeted

Muslims in Ottawa are concerned about what this will mean for them.

"I have kids myself in school and one going to university," said Bader Siddiqi, choking up and unable to finish his sentence.

People went into this meeting with many fears, but said they came out confident police won't be practicing racial profiling and will work to help them and non-Muslims feel safe.

"We were reasured that no particular ethnicity or community are being singled out or targeted. And I feel much better about that," said Safaa Fouda.

Added Siddiqi, "We want to protect this country, and we want to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with them and not be bunched up together with some extremist."
