Ottawa police are asking the public to step forward to find the driver of a vehicle that struck a 44-year-old man on a motorycle on Richmond Road, who died from his injuries later on Friday.

The driver fled the scene, police say, and they are on the hunt for a small, dark-coloured four-door vehicle. It was last seen going north on High Street from Richmond Road.

Paramedics say the man was without vital signs when they arrived. He suffered critical head, chest and internal injuries and also had a fractured pelvis and broken arms. He was declared dead upon arrival at the hospital.

Police closed down Richmond Road between Grenon Avenue and Pinecrest Road for the investigation. His name won't be released until next of kin is notified.
