There is a search today for a single suspect responsible for two violent bank robberies in West End Ottawa.

Ottawa Police released photos from both incidents. They believe it's the same suspect.

Investigators say the first robbery happened August 5th in the 900 block of Carling Avenue. 

When the teller handed over some cash, the suspect demanded more money, and threatened to hurt the staff. The employee complied with the demands.

He made the same violent threats at a bank in the 200 block of Centrepointe Drive August 12th.

The thief was wearing different disguises, but police believe its the same person.

The suspect is described a being a male with a darker complexion, 5'6" to 5'8" (168-172cm), 200-220 lbs (91-100kg.) stocky build, approximately 25-35 years. He had a moustache/goatee, longer hair and was English speaking.

In the second robbery, the male suspect arrived wearing a construction helmet, a reflective vest, sunglasses and pyjama bottoms.
