Two people have been charged with attempted murder after a 38-year-old Ottawa man was shot in the leg in Nation Township on Friday afternoon.

Police swarmed a home on Concession 8 near St-Bernardin overnight and arrested the suspects. They also seized a gun being kept in an "insecure fashion," according to a release.

The victim was shot after arriving at the home but managed to escape. He was treated at Cornwall Community Hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

Denise Allard, 34, of Nation Township, was charged with attempted murder. Edward Hawn, 34, of Ottawa was charged with attempted murder and several firearms offences.

Both suspects remain in custody pending a Monday bail hearing in L'Orignal court.
