It’s a duck adventure that’s piquing interests online.
“The very first day and they just took over my life. I grabbed the camera and started filming the little guys,” says Matt McDougall.
McDougall owns more than 600 ducks which he raises as food. Along the way he decided to record all his adventures with them and put them on YouTube.
His channel “50 Ducks In A Hot Tub” has nearly 9,000 subscribers and tens of thousands of views.
“They do things every day and there's something exciting every day. That's where the channel really picked up,” McDougall says.
The YouTube channel shows both the good and bad, from daily marches to the lake to the dangers of predators like foxes and coyotes.
McDougall is also very open to the fact that some of the ducks are culled for food.
“It's our food, but there's nothing that says you can't love your food. It's respect to animals,” he says.
Still, McDougall says both he and his YouTube subscribers have become very attached to the ducks, watching their daily adventures even naming some of them.
McDougall’s goal is to breed and raise up to 2,000 ducks.
