OTTAWA -- Ottawa Public Health is reporting 83 more people in Ottawa have tested positive for COVID-19 and two more people have died.
The new case count is the lowest so far this month, after OPH reported 94 cases on May 4. Daily case counts have otherwise been in the triple digits since late March.
According to Ottawa Public Health's COVID-19 dashboard, there have been 25,446 total laboratory-confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the capital since the pandemic began. The two new deaths reported Monday bring the city's pandemic death toll to 525 residents.
There were 2,716 new cases of COVID-19 reported across Ontario on Monday. The province also reported 19 more residents dying from COVID-19 and said there are 3,110 newly resolved cases. Public Health Ontario reported 86 new cases of COVID-19 in Ottawa. Figures from OPH often differ from those provided by Public Health Ontario because the two health units pull data for their respective daily reports at different times.
Monday's snapshot from Ottawa Public Health also showed a decline in the number of COVID-19 patients in local hospitals and in the weekly testing positivity rate.
OTTAWA'S KEY COVID-19 STATISTICS
Ottawa entered Ontario's COVID-19 stay-at-home order at 12:01 a.m. April 8.

Reproduction values greater than 1 indicate the virus is spreading and each case infects more than one contact. If it is less than 1, it means spread is slowing.
COVID-19 VACCINES IN OTTAWA
Ottawa Public Health updates vaccine numbers on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
As of May 10:
- Ottawa residents with 1 dose: 390,725 (+22,109)
- Ottawa residents with 2 doses: 28,325 (+332)
- Total doses received in Ottawa*: 391,930 (+11,600)
As of Monday, 46 per cent of Ottawa residents 18 and older had received at least one dose of the vaccine.
*Total doses received does not include AstraZeneca doses shipped to pharmacies and primary care clinics.
HOSPITALIZATIONS IN OTTAWA
Ottawa Public Health reported 73 people in hospital with COVID-19 related illnesses on Monday, down from 81 on the weekend.
There are 19 people in intensive care, down from 21.

The number of people with known active cases of COVID-19 in Ottawa continues to decline and is below 1,400.
There are 1,374 active cases of COVID-19 in Ottawa on Monday, down from 1,448 active cases on Sunday.
155 more people have recovered after testing positive for COVID-19. The total number of resolved cases of coronavirus in Ottawa is now 23,547.
The number of active cases is the number of total laboratory-confirmed cases of COVID-19 minus the numbers of resolved cases and deaths. A case is considered resolved 14 days after known symptom onset or positive test result.

COVID-19 TESTING IN OTTAWA
The Ottawa COVID-19 Testing Taskforce says 580 swabs were processed at local assessment centres on Sunday and labs performed 1,276 tests.
The average turnaround from the time a swab is taken at a testing site to the result is 17 hours.
Public Health Ontario said Sunday that 27,175 COVID-19 tests were completed province-wide on Sunday.

As of April 7, two cases of COVID-19 in a resident or staff member of a long-term care home, retirement home with an with an epidemiological link, within a 14-day period, where at least one case could have reasonably acquired their infection in the facility is considered an outbreak in a long-term care home or retirement home. One laboratory-confirmed case of COVID-19 in a staff member or resident of other institutions such as shelters, group homes, is considered an outbreak. In childcare settings, two children or staff or household member cases of laboratory-confirmed COVID-19 within a 14-day period where at least one case could have reasonably acquired their infection in the childcare establishment is considered an outbreak in a childcare establishment.
Under provincial guidelines, a COVID-19 outbreak in a school is defined as two or more lab-confirmed COVID-19 cases in students and/or staff in a school with an epidemiological link, within a 14-day period, where at least one case could have reasonably acquired their infection in the school (including transportation and before or after school care).
Two or more lab-confirmed COVID-19 cases in patients and/or staff in a hospital setting with an epidemiological link, within a 14-day period, where at least one case could have reasonably acquired their infection in the hospital is considered an outbreak in a public hospital.
