Ottawa Mayor Larry O'Brien reached out to his council colleagues Wednesday while he outlined his priorities during his first council meeting back in the mayor's chair since being acquitted of influence peddling last month.

"I look forward to working with you as your partner as we finish this term of office," he said.

O'Brien outlined his priorities ranging from Kanata flooding, swine flu, the new transit plan and taxes.

"Taxes, my friends, are the price we pay for the value we receive from government. We have done a lot, but there is a lot of work left to be done," O'Brien said.

Council will start their next budget process this fall. The mayor said he wants to bring increased transparency and accountability to the process.
