Ottawa has a new Fire Chief. John deHooge was hired after a nation-wide search lasting several months.
He arrives in Ottawa from Waterloo where he also served as fire chief.
deHooge's appointment has caused a stir at Ottawa City Hall because he only speaks English.
The city says it interviewed bilingual candidates but deHooge was by far the most qualified for the job.
