Ottawa Senators General Manager Bryan Murray has been diagnosed with cancer and will start treatment immediately.
The Ottawa Senators confirmed the news in a statement released Monday.
Murray will likely have to be absent from the team's operations during treatment.
"On behalf of the entire Senators family, the team is asking that the thoughts, prayers and support of the entire hockey community are with Bryan and his family", the statement read.
Murray has been with the Senators organization since 2003.
He was coach of the year in 1984 with the Washington Capital.
The hockey community is sending Murray wishes of good health.
I'd urge Bryan to fight hard but that goes without saying for a member of the Murray clan of Shawville, Que.
