Police in Belleville are warning women in that city to be extremely cautious and make sure they're never alone, following the sudden disappearance of a 27-year-old woman.

Jessica Elizabeth Lloyd was reported missing on Jan. 29 after she failed to show up for work.

She was last heard from when she sent a text message to a friend late Thursday night. Her last known whereabouts was her home on Highway 37 where she lived by herself.

Belleville police are now calling Lloyd's disappearance suspicious.

Police issued a warning to all women living in Belleville on Wednesday. Those living by themselves in particular are urged to beware of their surroundings and take measures to protect themselves, including:

  • changing their personal routines
  • making sure they're never alone
  • and always locking their doors

Police are also asking the public to report any suspicious people, vehicle or activities.

Lloyd is described as 125 pounds, five feet five inches tall. She has dark brown shoulder-length hair, green eyes and a large, intricate 'L' tattoo across her lower back.

Police say she may have been wearing a sweater, vest and brown suede boots at the time of her disappearance.
