A 44-year-old man is in serious condition in hospital after a workplace accident in Kanata Wednesday morning.
Tony Richardson, owner of Beaverbrook Auto Service, says one employee was pinned between a car and a work bench when another employee drove a vehicle on the hoist but wasn't able to get his foot off the gas and onto the brake fast enough.
Paramedics say the mechanic suffered serious leg and pelvic injuries but is otherwise in stable condition.
Richardson says the employee behind the wheel "feels horrible" and that this incident is an opportunity to review safety procedures so something like this doesn't happen again.
The Ministry of Labour was called in to investigate but Richardson says the investigator told him it was clear this was simply an accident.
