It's a 1,000-kilometre trek in memory of a Canadian Olympian who gave the ultimate gift in death. Greg Davis stopped in Ottawa on his bike ride from Guelph to Quebec City.

The goal: to raise awareness for organ and tissue donation. He's the brother of Olympic swimmer Victor Davis, who was killed by a drunk driver.

"Our family and I decided to donate his organs, and because of that five different people we never met got a new lease on life," Davis says.

"And we were quite proud and happy to do that. We were making the best of a bad situation."

Davis wants to remind people, who want to be on the donor list, that registration is now done through your health card.

His final stop in Quebec City will kick-off the Canadian Transplant Games. Transplant recipients will head there to participate in Olympic-type sports.
