Ottawa fire crews were called to the abandoned school building on the site of the former Rockcliffe armed forces base.
Firefighters were called to the scene at 3:17 Monday morning when witness reported seeing flames inside the building. The building was fully engulfed in flames when emergency crews arrived.
Firefighters were focused on trying to keep the flames from spreading to other wings of the building as well as surrounding areas.
The base site has not been used for several years as it awaits redevelopment.
There are no reports of injuries. Damage estimates are not yet available.
