New parents say they’re “overwhelmed” that the community has rallied around them to help find a 38-year-old teddy bear that was lost at the Civic campus of the Ottawa hospital on Monday.

When baby Jackson arrived, his moms Rachel McCully and Daphnee Faule brought a teddy bear that had been part of Daphnee’s entire life with them.

The two were practicing swaddling with it as baby Jackson slept and they think it ended up lost in the bed linen.

Rachel says the search for the bear at the hospital turned up nothing so she contacted HLS Linen Services.

It says dozens of stuffed animals are received each week and employees always try to reunite them with their owners. Posters with a picture of the bear with no name have gone up in the facility and because of the volume of linen processed there, it could take a few days for the bear to be found.

Rachel’s post about the lost bear on her Facebook page has been shared more than 1,500 times.

Daphnee and Rachel say while they’re hopeful the bear will turn up, Jackson is all they need.
