Ottawa police are investigating the third shooting of the year after shots were fired in the Carlington area early Saturday morning.
Police were called to the 1400 block of Morisset Ave. around 6:55 a.m. for several 911 reports of shots fired.
Police say no one was shot, but they recovered multiple shell casings on the road between 1411 and 1416 Morisset Ave.
Ottawa Police Duty Inspector Mike Maloney said a man in his mid 30s who was apparently at a party at 1416 Morisset Ave. was robbed and assaulted by several people, and suffered injuries to his head from being hit with a broken bottle.
Maloney said the man then made his way outside, where shots were fired on the street outside of the residence.
Officers responding to the scene were told that suspects fled into an apartment building at 1411 Morisset Ave., which is across the street from 1416.
They arrested three people at the apartment building, two males, and a female, who are now in custody. Police say two of them are in their early to mid 20s, while one is a minor.
Police have not recovered a gun, but said search warrants will be served at both 1411 and 1416 Morisset.
The Police Gungs and Gangs Unit is investigating, and trying to determine if the shooting was gang related.
This is one of three shooting reported in Ottawa so far this year.
Earlier this month, police were called to the 1000 block of Whitton Place in the Overbrook area around 4 a.m. for reports of shots fired. No injuries were reported.
On the afternoon of January 10th, a man in his 20s was shot twice in the back on Riga Private in the Ritchie St. neighbourhood.
There were a record 49 shootings in Ottawa in 2014.
