Michelle Earle has spent the last two months staying at the Ottawa Hospital Rehabilitation Centre, after breaking her back at a friend's cottage May long weekend.

“On May 17th, I had an accident where I fell down a...embankment,” said Earle.

The accident left her paralyzed from the waist down, relying on a wheelchair to get around. Earle will be discharged from the rehabilitation centre on August 5th, but her home is not ready for her arrival.

“From a ramp at the front of the house, to widening the door frames, to hardwood floors, and bathrooms have to be refitted, the shower has to be refitted, everything,” said Earle’s friend, Nicole Gorham.

To help with home renovation fees, Earle’s friends and family rallied together at a fundraising event Monday. The event called "Bring Michelle Home" has raised $16,000 so far and counting.

There is also a GoFundMe page set up for donations.
